Ruth Erlene (McCord) Hall

Ruth Erlene (McCord) Hall, 94, died peacefully on February 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Erlene was born in Savannah, Georgia, the only daughter of James Ernest and Beatrice Donnie McCord (both pre-deceased).  She had two brothers, Charles McCord (pre-deceased) and Donald McCord (pre-deceased).

In 1949, Erlene married James Douglas Hall, Sr. (pre-deceased).  They had four children:  Donnie Jernigan, Doug Hall (Judy), Dede Laird (Robert), and Deanna Morrison.

Erlene began a career with Walmart as a Customer Service representative at the age of 60 and worked there for 28 years before retiring.

She has nine grandchildren:  Michele Wooten (Scott), Nicole Hair (Thomas); James Hall (Alichia); Katie Brown (Jay); Brian Hall; Kevin Laird (Dana); Dorian Jernigan; Noah Hall; and Caleb Hall.

Erlene was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.   Her happy place was always at the beach.  She loved spending time with her family and we will always remember her self-less devotion to all of us.

The graveside service will be Wednesday, February 14th at 12:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donation to the American Cancer Society.

GUEST BOOK

My heart is broken for you all. I have many many fond memories of her. There was a portion of my life that was spent almost every night at her home. Lunch on Sundays. I would watch her make my favorite collards. She put up with a lot from us girls. I know she is in heaven still watching over us. She was very much loved and will be missed.

Dear family, I am saddened to hear of your loss. Erlene was always the sweetest person and was the kindest aunt anyone could ask for. I have fond memories of her as I'm sure everyone does which will always bring a smile. God bless y'all and rest peacefully Aunt Erlene. Love, Mike

My condolences especially to the 4 Ds; Donnie, Doug, Dede and Deanna and the entire family. I remember going to “Carolina “ to that big beautiful bluff on the Colleton /Oakatee river. First thing Mrs Hall wanted was some blue crabs. Of course that was the job for me and Doug ! Also I remember being in Walmart one day and hearing a voice on the intercom. No that can’t be Mrs Hall … yes it was as it says in the obituary for 28 years WOW !!! May she rest in peace.
